Drawing on the concept of combining energy and media, the design of the “Innovation Tower” (7 Bamboo Groves) gathers disparate programmatic, physical, and infrastructural elements from the requirements of the building and its surrounding context, and synthesizes these into a form that seamlessly integrates the building into the unity with its site, while expressing multiple flows of movement. In the spirit of the innovation and the creativity, the tower embodies state-of-the-art technological advances to become a urban landmark.
从河南焦作当地竹林七贤的传说出发，主楼的设计把功能，形体和周边环境等一系列因素通过最新的参数化技术紧密地结合在一起，从而创造出一个独特的，跟基地的历史和现代融合在一起的建筑。并且为了让科创大厦成为真正的科学和创新的基地，以及对古代竹林七贤的致敬，科创大厦把建筑设计从造型的艺术上升到了美学和高新建筑建造技术的融合，从而使整个科技园区成为科学与艺术一体化的城市创意创新地标。
The central hall covered by aerodynamic skin houses the seven bamboo groves, platforms in the air, which have functions of meetings room. Those are connected with bridges with the main office building. The main methapor for the design is the story of the Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove (also known as the Seven Worthies of the Bamboo Grove). They have been a group of Chinese scholars, writers, and musicians of the 3rd century CE. The Seven Sages, or the symbol that they became, have been remarked to be influential in Chinese poetry, music, art, and overall culture.
在中央大厅的上方，悬挂着7座突出在立面上的以竹林七贤为主题的会议室，这里是整个科创大厦的创意心脏，是展示河南理工大学独树一帜的科学创新技术和风格，以及对古人先贤的意识和精神的觉醒和提升的主空间。7座会议室分布在不同的楼层，并把不同的楼层串联起来，通过悬桥和住办公区域连接，使得科学上的协同创新和产业结合更有效率，产生更多的可能性。
